Gigs are great for photographs. The perfect combination of people with a wide range of natural expressions and, hopefully, some interesting lighting to bring the pictures to life. I think these pictures also answer one of the often asked questions "Which is better, colour or Black & White?" The answer is obvious - "it depends". In August 2019 I worked as a stage cameraman with Festival Vision at the Wickham Folk Festival, doing my bit for the big video screens (I'm looking forward to being back on stage with them for my fourth outing in 2023). That gave me a chance to get down with the other photographers when I had some free time and grab some shots for my personal portfolio. I also photograph at the Tropic in Ruislip from time to time. The rather dodgy colour picture of the Rollin' Stoned was taken at the first ever Tropic gig in 2010.
I do love working with bands. I was a sound engineer for 16 years and worked in various places including the Maida Vale studios and several mighty shows at Wembley Stadium.
So if you are a promoter, manager or an up-and-coming band and you need a photographer then pleas contact me.
